In this NEJM article, we see what an average physician does on a daily basis. I can tell you that our numbers are about 50% higher than the ones in this article.
NEJM -- What's Keeping Us So Busy in Primary Care? A Snapshot from One Practice
How would John Q Public respond if we started to bill for every email, phone call, message, letter, note, lab result review and refill in addition to all the prior authorizations, referral, and test approvals. If we billed for the services we provide similar to the lawyers and accountants, things may radically change.
Examining the patient is unfortunately only a small part of the overall care that is rendered on each visit.

This post reminds me of a recent advertisement from the US Army. It claimed that US Army personnel get more done before 8 am than most people do the entire day. I would say that this is true for the medical profession and many other private professions. But, it would most certainly be untrue for our paid representative geniuses who have made so many wise decisions in the past 17 months since BHO has taken office. They get most of their work done the night before a major holiday, like Christmas eve, when they think no one is watching. I pray that God will bless the medical profession, especially now that the profession is under full attack from our "out of control" government. I also pray for "Repeal and Replace." But, most importantly, I pray for our nation, that it will become better educated, so that it will never elect a president like the one we have now. Finally, I pray that this great nation will remain great and will survive the attempts to tear it apart that we are seeing each day from the worse presidency in our history.
